The Strokes is an American rock band from New York . Known as a representative group of the garage rock revival ( rock and roll revival, post-punk revival) movement in the 2000s .
In 1999, at a school for upper-class and wealthy children on the Upper West Side of NY, Julian and Nikolai, who were childhood friends and had been in a band together, meet Nick and Fab, who are also childhood friends. The Strokes were formed with the addition of Julian's friend from Le Rosey, Albert, who had come from LA to New York University to study film.
